I was watching the Australian version of The Biggest Loser last night, & one thing that struck me with some of the contestants is that even after all they they have been through to lose they weight they have, they still have not taken responsibilities for their lives. They are still finding ways to blame things, circumstances & other people.

The first step anyone of us must take to overcome any situation is to take complete responsability for your own life. And that is also very true with Being Happy.

You see, much of what goes on around us, happens to many other people also. So why is it that some people get upset about a situation while to others it is simple water off a ducks back. It all boils down to your mental attitude, or your mindset.

Having a Positive Mental Attitude (PMA) will get you a lot further in life than a Negative one will. A PMA gives you strength to face situations that would normally cause you stress & worry.

I will write further about developing a PMA soon.

So take back control of your life by taking 100% responsibility for where you are. Happiness comes to those that are in control, and control belongs to those that are responsible for their own lives.

It’s not always easy to be Happy

I know the whole concept about Being Happy By Choice, can be considered a rather silly idea. After all, you either feel happy or you don’t.

However, you can decide how you feel. You can control how you stand, what expression to wear, you can choose what you read or listen to. Although you may not feel like wearing a smile if you feel down in the dumps. But if you just smile anyway, you can change your mood.

When I was young, I made myself a tape of music, that progressively went from sad songs, to happy songs. When I was feeling down, I would go for long walks and listen to the tape. (back in the days of Walkmans). While listening to the sad music, each song became more and more positive, until by the time I got to the end of the tape, I was feeling realy good.

Now this may not work for all people, but for me it did. So try it sometime. Load a pile of music onto your MP3 player and set the order from sad to happy and see how you go.

Welcome to the Being Happy by Choice Blog.

This blog accompanies the Being Happy by Choice Website which is currently under construction, but I am hoping to have it up with some good content before the end of March 2009.

I intend to have many tips on being happy, as well as positive quotes, stories & of course jokes to put a smile on your face.

I am also writing a book called Being Happy by Choice which is about how to overcome everyday stresses & learn to focus on all that is positive.
